Research

—

The foundation of any design programme is a a detailed understanding of the product dynamics from a user standpoint and the market in which the product is intended to be sold. By referencing people who use and market this product throughout the design programme, we ensure the design is intent is not only destined to satisfy expectations but transcend them.

Ideation

—

Creativity is the focus in this stage, we reference a wide spectrum of influences to produce innovative ideas. All ideas are produced on the foundation of our research and a comprehensive knowledge of production realities. A range of designs are produced using traditional industrial design skills, from sketch work to simple models.

Model Making

—

Model making provides an early opportunity to test and validate design intent. At PDu, this forms a key ingredient of our front end design process. Our process is geared towards getting a physical representation of the concept into the hands of our clients and the end users as quickly as possible in the project.

Rapid Prototyping

—

Rapid prototyping or RP forms a critical evaluation point in the development process. It gives us the opportunity to fully asses a design from multiple standpoints such as product use, moulding and assembly as well as aesthetic qualities.

Design
Development

We have a high level of experience in developing products for a wide variety of market sectors ranging from consumer plastics through to the mining industry. This, backed up by our indepth knowledge of 3D CAD and production techniques allows us to design cost effective solutions for our clients.

Implementation

—

PDu typically play a very central role in the production implementation process, sourcing suppliers, overseeing the final data provision, tooling manufacturing, project management and assessment of first of sample builds prior to the production sign off. We effectively hand over a purchasing process so the client can move onto full production.
