E2 Control Drive Range

Invertek are involved in the design, manufacture and marketing of electronic variable speed drives for controlling pumps and motors. Their products are sold globally by a network of specialist distributers in over 40 countries.

Invertek’s Optidrive range is designed for ease of use and installation. Our remit in this project was to design the next generation of the range building on its functional success but removing unnecessary costs in components, product assembly and the procurement and storage of components. As well as new electronics the E2 included new designs for all the plastic components. The range consists of 7 frame sizes so keeping components to a minimum was critical. One of the main innovations in this project was the creation of high number of common components and a two step assembly process. This has greatly reduced the build time and cost, tooling costs, procurement costs and warehouse storage. The design is also very difficult to assemble incorrectly which reduces waste and returns.

The E2 drive not only delivers innovation from a product assembly perspective it also has major benefits for rebranding the product for some of the clients OEM customers. The dynamic visual language gives Invertek a competitive and distinctive place in a highly competitive market.
